Hill Country Christian School San Marcos is a vibrant, Spirit-filled Christian school in San Marcos, Texas, serving approximately 225 students in grades PreK through 12. Our school is a close-knit community where students and staff actively demonstrate the love of Jesus in their daily school life. We are deeply committed to academic excellence grounded in a biblical worldview, and we seek to develop the whole child—spiritually, intellectually, socially, and physically.
We are creating a new Superintendent/Head of School position to lead our school into its next chapter of growth and impact. This search will continue until the right-fit candidate is found.
Position Overview
The Superintendent/Head of School serves as the chief executive officer of the school, providing visionary spiritual and academic leadership. This leader will oversee all aspects of school operations, including academics, finance, enrollment, personnel, facilities, and community engagement. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the Superintendent/Head of School will be responsible for advancing the school’s Christ-centered mission while ensuring operational excellence and sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities
Spiritual Leadership & Discipleship
Serve as the school’s primary spiritual leader, modeling Christ-like character in all interactions with staff, students, parents, and the broader community.
Lead and nurture a culture of discipleship, prayer, worship, and spiritual growth across the entire school community.
Fuse Christian leadership principles into every facet of school life, ensuring that faith is central—not peripheral—to the educational experience.
Engage with local churches and ministry partners to strengthen the school’s spiritual foundation.
Academic & Instructional Leadership
Provide strategic direction for curriculum development, instructional practices, and academic standards within a biblical framework.
Recruit, develop, retain, and evaluate high-quality faculty and staff who share the school’s mission and values.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement, professional development, and educational innovation.
Ensure the school meets or exceeds accreditation standards and pursue additional accreditation where appropriate.
Business Operations & Financial Stewardship
Oversee all business operations including budgeting, financial planning, tuition management, and fundraising.
Ensure responsible stewardship of the school’s financial and physical resources.
Develop and execute strategies for enrollment growth and long-term financial sustainability.
Manage facilities, technology infrastructure, and operational systems to support the school’s mission.
Community Engagement & Board Relations
Serve as the public face and ambassador of the school to families, donors, churches, and the San Marcos community.
Build and maintain strong relationships with parents, alumni, and community stakeholders.
Work collaboratively with the Board of Directors, providing regular reporting and strategic recommendations.
Lead enrollment and marketing efforts to communicate the school’s unique value proposition.
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in Educational Administration, Educational Leadership, or a closely related field (Doctorate preferred).
Minimum of 5 years of experience in school administration, with demonstrated success as both an instructional leader and a business operations leader at a school or group of schools.
Deep, mature Christian faith with a personal commitment to Jesus Christ and a lifestyle consistent with biblical principles.
Extensive experience with discipleship and fusing Christian leadership principles in interactions with staff, parents, and students.
Proven track record of spiritual leadership in a Christian school or ministry setting.
Experience with school accreditation processes (ICAA, ACSI, or equivalent).
Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, fundraising, and fiscal management.
Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and conflict-resolution skills.
A servant-leader mindset with a heart for students, families, and the broader school community.
Preferred Qualifications
Doctorate (Ed.D. or Ph.D.) in Educational Leadership or related field.
Experience leading a PreK–12 school of similar size (150–400 students).
Familiarity with Texas private school regulations and TAPPS athletic/academic programs.
Experience in operations management, enrollment growth, strategic planning, and capital campaigns.
Background in or connection to the San Marcos/Central Texas area.
