Company Overview
Paychex, Inc. is a recognized leader in the payroll and human resource industry, serving approximately 561,000 businesses nationwide. The Paychex commitment to customers remains as strong today as it was when the company was founded by B. Thomas Golisano in 1971.

Golisano started the company with just $3,000 and a great idea - to make payroll outsourcing easy and affordable for small businesses. He saw the huge untapped market of American businesses with fewer than 100 employees. Golisano went to his employer at the time, a regional payroll processor for big businesses, with his plan. The company wasn't interested, so Golisano struck out on his own. He launched Paychex with just one employee.
That small operation grew to include 18 franchises and partnerships, which were eventually consolidated into one private company in 1979. In 1983, Paychex went public and began trading on the NASDAQ Stock Market. Since then, Paychex has registered a record of steady growth.
Today, Paychex offers an ever-growing variety of payroll and human resource products and services that help clients do what they do best - run their business.
