Founded in 1973, Callan is a one of the largest employee-owned investment consulting firms in the U.S., with more than $3 trillion in assets under advisement. We provide thoughtful, research-driven advice to large institutional investors including pension and defined contribution plans, endowments, foundations, insurance companies, and health care organizations. Because we are independently owned and not beholden to outside shareholders, we help raise the industry standard by orienting everything we do around our clients’ goals.

Company History
Callan dates back to 1966 when Edwin C. Callan formed the investment measurement division of Mitchum, Jones & Templeton, a large financial services firm. In 1973, Ed Callan and a group of his colleagues purchased the performance division and established it as an independent firm under the name Callan Associates Inc. In 1989, control of the firm passed to the second generation of employee owners. A third generation of employee owners advanced into senior management positions in 2007.
Today, Callan is an independent firm, with over 130 owner-employees, that provides investment consulting services to public and private pension plan sponsors, endowments, foundations, operating funds, investment management firms, financial intermediaries, and mutual fund boards of directors. The firm employs 200 associates with a goal to assist more than 500 of our clients make better business and investment decisions.
