The Nuclear Medicine section in the Radiology Department at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Northwestern University has an opening for a one-year non-ACGME accredited Molecular Imaging and Theranostics fellowship position to begin on July 1, 2026. The program is offered to radiologists that have completed medical school and a residency in Diagnostic Radiology. Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency is not required but preferred and are American Board of Radiology (ABR) board certified/eligible.
This fellowship training is based at Northwestern Memorial Hospital (NMH) and the main campus of Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Northwestern Memorial Hospital provides a world-class level of imaging science including performance of PET/CT, PET/MR and SPECT/CT to provide diagnostic imaging.
Training will involve a combination of diagnostic imaging, focused on both PET and Nuclear Medicine diagnostic imaging, along with administration of unique molecular-targeted therapies for noninvasive treatment of cancer. Nuclear imaging examinations require a unique level of interaction with technologists, nursing, and referring teams, collaborating on imaging diagnosis and treatment plans for molecular-targeted radioisotopes for treatment. The fellow will be responsible for collaborating with all team members to optimize protocols and will be responsible for preliminary interpretations. The trainee will be involved in all nuclear therapies to acquire the skills to properly monitor and administer these therapies in coordination with clinical teams.
Further, the fellows will have subspecialized exposure to different aspects of PET imaging, including subspecialized cutting edge clinical and research oncologic imaging ( Neuro-oncology, prostate cancer etc.), high volume of dedicated Cardiac PET imaging service with Nuclear Cardiology and world class robust PET service for neurologic disease, such as dementia and epilepsy.
Northwestern Radiology welcomes both American and International Medical Graduates. The Molecular Imaging and Theranostics fellowship is supported by Northwestern as an American Board of Radiology (ABR) Alternate Pathway fellowship.
