McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, a leading academic health center, invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), non-tenure clinical track Instructor position in the Department of Neurosurgery Open Cerebrovascular/Endovascular Neurosurgery program at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. The selected candidate will serve in a one-year Instructor position from July 1, 2026-June 30, 2027.
UTHealth Houston, in collaboration with Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center, utilizes state-of-the art technology and facilities. Its advanced Vascular Neurosurgery team is nationally recognized as leaders in the field and provides a complete range of advanced procedures.
During the 12 months, the candidate will use his/her detailed knowledge of catheter technology, radiological imaging, and clinical expertise to diagnose and treat diseases of the central nervous system. The candidate will manage patients with neurological diseases, perform simple and complex open surgical and interventional endovascular procedures, and integrate these techniques into the surgical therapy of patients with complex vascular and neoplastic diseases. He/she will perform clinical pre-procedural evaluations of patients, interpret preliminary diagnostic studies, consult with clinicians on other services, generate procedural reports, and participate in short-term and long-term post procedure follow-up care, including neuro-intensive care.
The candidate will cover (endo)vascular call with the attending physicians, participate in operative cases, oversee post-operative management, and perform daily rounds with attending faculty and on-service residents. The fellow will manage the pre- and post-op care of these patients in the surgical and outpatient clinic settings. The fellow will also participate in a series of weekly didactic conferences with the department. Independent research projects are encouraged and protected research time will be available.
Qualifications:
Texas Medical License or be eligible for a Texas Faculty Temporary License.
Completed an ACGME-accredited residency program
Demonstrated interest in research and preference for an academic career.
