The primary responsibility of a faculty member at NOVA is to provide high-quality instruction. Faculty are expected to engage students effectively in classroom, laboratory, and online learning environments and to support student development through individual conferences and related activities.
Faculty must be available to teach day, evening, and weekend classes at any of the College’s campuses or off-site locations.
Full-time teaching faculty teach in traditional, hybrid, and distance-learning formats. Nine-month positions carry a typical teaching load of 12–15 credit hours and 15–20 contact hours per semester. In addition to teaching, faculty serve as academic advisors, participate in committees, contribute to curriculum development, and maintain currency in their disciplines.
