Terrain Workshop is a growing design-build firm in Dallas, TX, specializing in landscapes and pools for substantial, ultra luxury new build homes. We are looking for the next member of our team who embodies our core values: Integrity without compromise, courage, teamwork, excellence and humility.
We are looking for a Landscape Architect / Designer who will lead projects from initial concept through construction completion. The ideal candidate is design-driven, highly organized, and comfortable balancing creative vision with budgets, schedules, and construction realities.
Key Responsibilities
Design Leadership
- Lead the design process from concept development through construction documentation
- Prepare landscape plans, details, and specifications using CAD and related design software
- Develop designs that balance aesthetics, constructability, budget, and site constraints
- Collaborate with clients to refine design intent and present design solutions clearly
- Coordinate internally to ensure designs transition smoothly into construction
Project Management & Execution
- Manage multiple design–build projects from contract execution through closeout
- Review and refine designs for constructability, scope clarity, and cost alignment
- Develop and manage project budgets and work plans
- Coordinate material procurement with construction supervisor
Field & Team Coordination
- Serve as the primary link between design, field crews, subcontractors, and vendors
- Conduct project kick-off meetings and participate in regular job site visits
- Support field supervisors with sequencing, detailing, and problem-solving
- Ensure construction aligns with approved drawings and original design intent
Financial Management
- Track project costs, budgets, and change orders
- Assist with estimating and pricing during design development
- Prepare and review client invoices and subcontractor pay applications
- Manage scope changes and approvals while maintaining target gross profit margins
Client Communication
- Act as the primary client contact throughout design and construction, addressing inquiries clearly and professionally
- Provide regular updates on design progress, schedules, and budgets
Requirements
Qualifications
- 4–8+ years of experience in landscape architecture or design
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Sketchup and related design software
- Strong understanding of landscape materials and construction methods
- Ability to read, produce, and execute construction-level drawings
- Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills
