Job SummaryThe Director, Supply Chain is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing the integrated supply chain functions for Baylor Scott and White Health (BSWH), which may include supply chain management, strategic sourcing, procurement, logistics, bio-medical services, vendor management, supply chain technology, and other supply chain program areas. Develops and implements system-wide supply chain strategy, policies, procedures, departmental SOPs and practices that meet service and quality standards, manage total costs appropriately, and are aligned with BSWH business objectives. Directs and coordinates the distribution of procured supplies and equipment throughout the organizational areas of responsibility. Focuses on continuous improvement of the flow and movement of equipment, supplies, and materials through the BSWH supply chain and directs regular studies on service efficiency, key performance metrics, cost effectiveness, and benchmarks for supply chain planning and forecasting. Collaborates with leadership in procurement, logistics, finance, and other departments to drive improvement in supply chain management processes within area of responsibility and across BSWH system. Ensures compliance with all safety, legal, and regulatory requirements impacting BSWH supply chain programs, processes, and operations.

Recommends policies and organizational changes for area. Plans and executes projects and initiatives that meet annual objectives. Plans and directs the operations of a department or area, with responsibility for staffing, processes, budgets, and costs of the unit. Leads and advises subordinate(s) to meet schedules, resolve technical problems, and monitor performance. Has a larger, more complex organization or functional area than a manager. Often has one or more managers or supervisors reporting to the role.
Essential Functions of the Role
- Directs the supply chain function for assigned area of responsibility in BSWH.
- Recommends and implements strategic and operational plans and priorities for supply chain aligned with BSWH overall business objectives.
- Directs supply chain daily operations including receiving, inventory management, order fulfillment, and distribution ensuring high efficiency and customer service levels.
- Leads the cost analysis of supply chain components and recommends potential cost reductions and service enhancements to senior leadership for review.
- Directs and monitors the handling, movement, acquisition, and disposition of assets, and always ensures the availability of supplies and equipment.
- Leads the development and implementation of standardized programs for supply chain functions, including master file standardization, inventory clean up, and new technology integration.
- Promotes quality improvement efforts relating to supplies and improved techniques for the control of quality, reliability, and accuracy of inventory and associated data.
- Directs continuous improvement initiatives for supply chain programs to implement best practices, improve workflows, and maximize efficiencies of assigned area of operations.
- Collaborates and communicates with hospitals, clinics, operational leadership, and other supply chain team members to analyze financial, operational, clinical, quality, and service metrics to deliver supply chain services to assigned area.
- Leads the monitoring and tracking of supply data, such as back orders, manufacturer numbers, expiration dates, product recalls, and lot numbers to provide accurate and timely inventory management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, or related field preferred.
- 4+ years of director level experience in supply chain, logistics, or related area.
- Experience working in a large, matrixed hospital or healthcare system
- Knowledge of healthcare supply chain, medical equipment, and supplies.
- Experience executing supply chain operational, process, and improvement initiatives.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of supply chain ERP systems, and current technologies.
