The Assistant Overnight Manager / Manager-on-Duty (MOD) oversees all overnight hotel operations, ensuring exceptional guest service, operational efficiency, and adherence to Hyatt brand standards. This role represents hotel management during overnight hours, providing leadership, direction, and support across all departments to ensure a seamless guest and colleague experience.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Service & Experience
• Oversee all overnight front office and rooms operations, ensuring smooth guest service and adherence to hotel and brand standards.
• Manage guest check-ins, check-outs, and special requests efficiently, maintaining a welcoming and professional atmosphere throughout the night.
• Proactively identify and address guest concerns, ensuring prompt resolution and service recovery in alignment with Hyatt's "Care" philosophy.
• Conduct courtesy calls and follow up on VIP arrivals, special requests, and guest satisfaction issues.
• Manage guest relocations ("walks") when necessary, maintaining guest satisfaction and protecting brand reputation.
Night Audit & Financial Accountability
• Supervise and complete the night audit process, verifying room rates, posting daily revenues, reconciling transactions, and preparing management reports.
• Monitor and reconcile all overnight financial transactions, ensuring accuracy in cash handling and audit documentation.
• Assist in preparing and verifying reports for the next day's operation, including forecasting occupancy, rate discrepancies, and group postings.
Leadership & Team Development
• Lead and support the overnight team, promoting effective communication, teamwork, and service consistency across departments.
• Provide coaching, feedback, and on-the-spot training to strengthen performance and reinforce Hyatt service standards.
• Conduct pre-shift briefings and ensure smooth handovers between overnight and morning operations.
• Promote cross-departmental collaboration and maintain morale among overnight colleagues.
Safety, Security & Crisis Management
• Serve as the overnight Manager-on-Duty, maintaining visibility throughout the property and ensuring guest and associate safety.
• Supervise and support overnight security operations, responding to incidents, emergencies, or disturbances according to established procedures.
• Conduct property walkthroughs to identify and report safety, security, or maintenance issues.
• Ensure compliance with all safety, emergency, and access control protocols; complete detailed incident reports as needed.
• Serve as the primary contact for emergency response and property safety during overnight hours.
Operational Coordination
• Coordinate with housekeeping and engineering to resolve overnight service or maintenance issues impacting guest experience.
• Ensure readiness for next-day operations, including group arrivals, early check-ins, and special events.
• Oversee overnight food and beverage operations, including room service, minibar, or late-night outlets as applicable.
• Maintain oversight of valet, bell, and shuttle operations overnight to ensure efficiency and guest satisfaction.
• Communicate key overnight activities, incidents, and audit results to department heads and senior management.
Brand Representation & Standards
• Uphold Hyatt's brand standards through consistent service delivery, grooming, and guest interaction.
• Represent hotel management with professionalism, exercising sound judgment and leadership in all overnight operations.
• Ensure property presentation standards (lobby, entrances, F&B outlets) meet Hyatt luxury expectations before morning operations begin.
• Foster an environment of care, inclusion, and excellence consistent with Hyatt's culture and values.

Qualifications
• Minimum 2-3 years of Front Office or Guest Services leadership experience in a full-service or luxury hotel.
• Strong working knowledge of hotel property management systems (e.g., Opera PMS) and cash handling procedures.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to lead teams independently during overnight shifts.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to multitask in a fast-paced airport environment.
• Must be able to work overnight hours (typically 11:00 PM - 7:30 AM), including weekends and holidays.
• Ability to act as Manager on Duty and make decisions in the absence of senior management.
• Previous Hyatt or comparable luxury brand experience is preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
